Food security is a fundamental requirement. IoT technology is completely redefining the production of food and the interaction between the producers and consumers. The IoT Week will leverage on the IoF2020 Large Scale Pilot on IoT for smart farming to present the latest development in this domain and serve as a starting point to shed a new light on Smart Agriculture and Food Security as well as and Smart Farming Initiatives Europe (with H2020 cases studies), Big Data & Farming (Security, traceability and data analytics) or Industrial Solutions on Farming & Food Security. The Internet of Food and Farm 2020 (IoF2020) project aims to consolidate Europe’s leading position in the Internet of Things (IoT)-technology applied in the agri-food sector. The programme at the IoT Week will be based on three pillars:
Project results and ecosystem building: IoF2020 status and synergies to develop an ecosystem consisting of farmers, food companies, policymakers, technology providers, research institutes, end-users, investors and various associations. We will also focus on the SDGs challenges for te agroo food sector and also the cooperation with the Smart Agri Hubs, the digital innovation hubs.
IoT deployment and business challenges for the Agri-Food sector: what lies ahead ? The objective is to highlight the different impacts that are expected to be delivered by integrating IoT technology in the agri-food chain. The potential for the sector is huge, but the implementation of such disruptive technology faces many challenges such as interoperability of the data, certification and standardisation, re-usability of the components, etc…
IoF2020 solutions for farmers: How IoT helps your farming activity? We will have a closer look at what it means in concrete terms for a business to implement such technology. Setting foot in the farmer’s shoe and considering the investment in IoT technology wheighed with the possible benefits but also the constraints in terms of training and re-organisation How are the IoT technologies and solutions developed within IoF2020 really helping the farmer on the short and on the long term ?
